Welcome back!
I'm so happy to kick off the new year with such a wonderful class! With a shorten week this week, we focused on some mini projects. In Writing, we learned about idioms and talked about how to make SMART goals. We used what we learned about SMART goals to create both personal and class resolutions. In Math, we dove head first into fractions. It would be great for students to see some real life applications of fractions so any time you can incorporate that into your home life would be wonderful! A great example of fractions is cooking so try a new recipe with your students and put their fraction knowledge to the test. We will be collecting Easter brunch recipes in the upcoming weeks so be on the look out for a letter home. We began a social studies unit this week. We are learning about how to be a good citizens and the rights that citizens have. We will be doing a research project later in the month about some important historical figures who helped fight for civil rights. As a class we discussed the handwriting expectations. We will be expecting students to use cursive more for finals drafts, essay questions, and spelling test. We will be practicing more at school and it will help students to encourage them to use cursive at home as well! Have a great weekend! Ms. Cyz
